Class Description:

First responders are often the first point of contact for individuals in crisis, placing them in a critical position to recognize and respond to suicide risk. This 3-hour course is designed to provide police, fire, EMS, and dispatch personnel with practical, evidence-based tools to identify warning signs, engage safely with individuals at risk, and connect them to appropriate resources.

Participants will explore the unique challenges of suicide prevention in emergency settings, learn to apply proven intervention models, and strengthen their crisis communication skills. The course also emphasizes the importance of responder mental health, peer support, and building a culture of wellness within the profession. Through interactive discussion and scenario-based learning, attendees will leave better equipped to save lives—both in the community and among their own ranks.
